$HLIT dropped 11% today and then continues to drop after Kevin Xu sold their position and retail panicked out behind them. After hours it is already recovering green. This is exactly the kind of move that creates opportunity. Nothing about the thesis changed today. Not one thing. One person sold and a wave of retail followed them out the door without asking whether the actual business got worse. It did not. It got better. Let me remind everyone what they just sold. A software company with greater than 95% market share in virtualized cable access. Every major US cable operator already a customer. $582 million in backlog up 87% year over year. Revenue up 43% last quarter with the largest beat in company history. Full year guidance raised to $475 to $495 million. 52% gross margins expanding as the software mix grows. And the catalyst behind all of it is mandatory. DOCSIS 4.0 is the largest upgrade cycle in cable history. Charter committed $5.5 billion. Comcast mid ramp. Cox through 2028. Every single one of those deployments runs through a Harmonic cOS license. There is no alternative platform at production scale. A single seller does not change a mandatory multi year upgrade cycle. A single seller does not erase $582 million in backlog. A single seller does not remove 95% market share. The business is stronger today than it was a month ago. The price just went on sale because people follow accounts instead of fundamentals. The thesis is better than ever. I am not going anywhere.

Every time you stream, video call, or ask an AI app a question, that data runs through a cable line owned by Comcast, Charter, or Cox. Upstream traffic is now growing 21.7% a year and the old cable standard cannot keep up. The fix is called DOCSIS 4.0. It takes cable from 1 Gbps to 10 Gbps with much faster upload speeds. I made a high conviction trade into $HLIT on Friday. Then I spent the long weekend doing the dive. When I first researched $HLIT back in March, I didn't see the story. There wasn't a laser or GPU to point at. But thanks to traders like @BryzonX, @citrini, @CKCapitalxx, and @kevinxu it finally clicked. The thing that flipped me wasn't the 43% quarter. It was realizing the moat isn't just 95% market share, it's time. $HLIT's cOS runs the broadband network for basically every major cable operator. To rip Harmonic out, an operator has to run an 18-24 month certification on a replacement before they can even start the switch. Harmonic owns this market into 2028 at the earliest, which happens to be the exact window the whole industry is forced to spend through its biggest upgrade cycle ever. This market isn't hard to win. It's closed. At first glance, two operators are a material risk at over half of revenue. $HLIT looks interesting here. My thoughts from initial DD: Harmonic is selling its slower video unit to MediaKind for 145m cash, leaving a clean pure play on virtual cable access. Broadband revenue up 43 percent year over year, backlog up 87 percent to 582m, full year guidance raised. Around 1.65B cap, roughly 100m cash, about 5x EV sales, and buying back stock right as DOCSIS 4.0 ramps. The dilutive segment walks out the door at the inflection. What is left is the cOS business, a software defined platform that virtualizes the cable modem termination system. Instead of operators bolting in more proprietary hardware, Harmonic runs the access network in software, which collapses space and power in the headend, breaks the old hardware upgrade cycle and cuts total cost of ownership. The platform is already live with 150 customers serving 45.7 million cable modems, it is expanding across every tier 1 account, and it now carries DOCSIS 4.0 wins plus a growing fiber and FTTH attach. So post sale you own the leading independent vCMTS vendor, net cash, growing high double digits, riding the operator shift to distributed access architecture and DOCSIS 4.0, with the loss making video drag gone and management already returning capital. Long $HLIT at $16 Known about this stock for months from a 9 figure manager in Florida I respect a lot. He gave me $SIVE and $MXL before either were mentioned on X. Ironically, I sat out of both generational trades. He was screaming at me about $HLIT multiple times but given the lack of an AI optics angle didn't think it made sense? But now a few things are alligning. - Stock is picking up mentions fast on X heard the pop might be from @Citrini? It's up 25% so it's going to getting some real love. - Switch to fiber for broadband is a necessity for larger AI workloads inside the home and just all these cable companies in general. People will demand more out of their connection with agentic AI. Telecom buzz around NOK, BZAI etc. - Harmonic has a strong moat. 43% growth, smashed earnings - Dirt cheap forward multiple for a fast growing business in a real supercycle and just a lot of buzz around the Sold my $FCEL after 25% and see better R/R on $HLIT as the fundamentals are good. Opened a long position in $HLIT today. This is the most interesting monopoly setup I have seen in a long time. Every cable and internet provider in the world has the same problem. Physical hardware. Cable access boxes sitting in facilities and in homes. Each node costs thousands of dollars to deploy. Every 3 to 5 years that hardware becomes obsolete and has to be physically replaced. Trucks rolled. Technicians dispatched. Hardware swapped. Over and over forever. The capex never stops. For a large cable operator running millions of nodes that is a multi billion dollar recurring cost that never goes away. $HLIT built the solution and it is so obviously better that I genuinely do not see how this does not become the standard for the entire industry. Their cOS platform virtualizes the entire cable access network in software. The operator buys the platform once and runs it on standard off the shelf cloud hardware. No proprietary boxes. No truck rolls for upgrades. No hardware replacement cycles. Capacity scales with a software update. New features deploy remotely overnight. Maintenance becomes a predictable annual subscription instead of a massive unpredictable capital expenditure. The economics for every operator on earth are impossible to argue with. Buy expensive hardware every 3 to 5 years forever. Or buy software once and pay a fraction of that in annual maintenance. The answer is obvious. Every operator that runs the numbers converts. And once they convert they never leave because ripping out the software layer running your entire broadband network is not something any sane operator does. That is the monopoly. Not a monopoly imposed by regulation. A monopoly created by switching costs so high that once you are in the ecosystem you are in permanently. And the market they are going after is enormous. Pure play broadband software company. One focus. Clean balance sheet. Now think about the ceiling. There are hundreds of cable and broadband operators globally who have not yet converted. Every single one of them is a future customer. The platform is cheaper. The economics are better. The switching costs lock them in permanently. There is no logical reason for any operator to choose hardware over this. If $HLIT captures even half the global broadband infrastructure market the revenue numbers look nothing like what they do today. 52% gross margins on a sticky recurring software business with a massive untapped global market and switching costs that make churn nearly impossible.
