The most underrated development in space and defense right now is the shift from export sales to equity joint ventures. $ASTS and $EOS.AX are both running a similar playbook and the market has not fully priced what it means. $ASTS and Rakuten are forming an equal stakes JV this year to buy and operate satellites for Japan, with Rakuten leading management. That structure just won the J-LEO tender, where Tokyo committed ¥150B, roughly $922M deployed over three years. The sovereign angle did the work. Japan wanted domestic capital and domestic control, and a JV delivers that in a way a vendor contract never could. $EOS.AX signed the same architecture in Abu Dhabi. A 50/50 JV with Gen5 to develop and manufacture a 200 to 300kW next generation laser weapon and produce existing 100 to 150kW systems and remote weapon systems in the UAE and MENA. Gen5 injects $40M into the venture, EOS contributes the entire laser technology platform, and the pipeline attached is large: a potential minimum $250M development order for the next generation laser family and a separate minimum $290M contract for 100kW systems. That sits on top of a firm $124M Slinger counter drone order from the same partner. In both cases the customer is also the financier, and the reason is sovereignty. Laser weapons and counter drone systems are capabilities no state wants to import indefinitely, so the UAE is paying to build them at home. For Japan the stakes go beyond defense: satellite connectivity is civil infrastructure, the backbone that keeps ordinary phones online when terrestrial networks fail. The 2024 Noto earthquake severed communications across entire communities and responders had to fall back on Starlink terminals. J-LEO exists so that never depends on foreign hands again. The pattern is identical. Small and mid cap technology owners no longer sell hardware into sovereign markets, they sell equity participation and localization in exchange for anchor capital and captive demand. The customer becomes a shareholder with aligned incentives and the order book becomes structural. For companies at this scale that is the cheapest growth capital available, and it converts geopolitical anxiety into balance sheet. A template is now available. Every mid power watching Japan write $922M into a JV or the UAE convert an order book into equity ownership just received a blueprint: anchor a proven technology owner, localize production, take a stake, and turn dependence into capability. Expect Gulf states, Southeast Asia, and European buyers to run the same play, and expect the names holding the underlying technology to be the ones fielding the calls. $ASTS $EOS.AX

I’ve talked about this before but it seems like everyone forgets what a cash cow $ASTS becomes once the network is live. Look at $NFLX for the blueprint. Netflix has around 325 million subscribers paying roughly $10 to $23 a month, and that recurring subscription model built a $310 billion company doing nearly $47 billion in revenue. Now look at what AST is building. Nearly 60 mobile operator partners covering over 3 billion subscribers. AST does not spend a dollar acquiring a single one of them. The carrier brings the customer, AST provides the coverage from space, and they split high margin recurring revenue. No content to produce, no stores, no marketing. Just a subscription toll on connectivity beamed to phones already in billions of pockets. If even a small slice of that 3 billion converts to a few dollars a month, you are looking at Netflix scale recurring revenue on infrastructure that is already paid for once the satellites are up. And the incremental cost to serve one more subscriber from orbit is almost nothing. Netflix proved how powerful global recurring subscriptions can be. AST is building the same model with 10x the addressable base and no content bill. The market is watching a future cash cow get built in real time.

Filtronic just announced a secondary contract on the development contract with an unnamed US space customer. In March, Filtronic announced an £8m contract with the space customer. Today, they announced a new development contract with the same customer. The goal is to design a stateof-the-art high-frequency module for use on satellite payload. Successful delivery of this initial development phase would be the first step on the path to volume manufacturing. It's a similar story as with the contract with $SPCX. Potential names of these customer include Blue Origin, and $ASTS. This is pure speculation though as nothing is confirmed yet.

You should literally block or mute every single account that spreads panic with "CEO SELLS SHARES". Just fact check it real quick: How much did he sell? 2,500,000 shares (or equivalent units) When did he enter this agreement? November 2024! Why? "For personal financial and estate planning." Now the only question that matters: How big is this sale? The 2.5M shares represent only 3.2% of his total position! He still holds 78M shares and a vast majority of his net worth is tied to $ASTS. The mistake people make with $ASTS is trying to value it on trailing revenue. Here is why the trailing P/S ratio is irrelevant for $ASTS: A space based network is almost entirely fixed cost once the constellation is flying, which means the relevant number is not what revenue is today but the margin it carries once the satellites are up and the carrier footprints light up. This wonderful business model allows for 80% - 90% in EBITDA margins when the expensive constellation buildout is finished and the money printers are turned on. That is the shape of the business, not a terrestrial carrier grinding out single digits. So you do not anchor on price to sales. A high forward margin means every dollar of future revenue is worth far more than a dollar of revenue at a low margin telecom or hardware name, and the market eventually pays for earnings power, not the top line. The correct frame is what these revenues become on a normalized margin when the buildout is completed. That is why the contracted backlog and connected customers matters more than the income statement right now. Over a billion in aggregate commitments and billions in potential subscribers from AT&T, Verizon, Vodafone and Rakuten are the forward revenue base. All that's left is to figure out how many subcribers will convert and how big of a role $ASTS gets in government/military applications. Get the constellation up and the earnings power reprices the entire equity.

The stock has been a good and volatile performer over the past year but it just pulled back hard, sitting around $80, down roughly 40 percent from its May all time high near $133 and still down 3% YTD. Here is why I think the performance has weakened recently: - The space group got hit with broad profit taking after the SpaceX IPO. - Worries about not being able to stack satellites, launch on a Falcon 9 or manufacture batches fast enough. - Then there are also the short/hedge dynamics of SpaceX holders, who are probably shorting a space basket to secure unrealized SpaceX gains. And here is why I think $ASTS might be a good entry to pick up at this price and time: - The first batch concern just got answered, because BlueBird 8, 9 and 10 launched successfully on a Falcon 9 on June 17 - The second batch is right behind it and about to be shipped soon, with BlueBird 11 onward in advanced production and arrays already built well past BB28, targeting around 45 satellites in orbit by year end. - They hold FCC commercial authorization, nearly 60 carrier partners including AT&T, Verizon and Vodafone, over $1.2B in contracted commitments, and roughly $3.5B in cash to fund the buildout. They previously stated in an earnings call that they expect no more dilution. - The value of their IP and spectrum rights is incredible. This, and the network of partners is why I think the downside is minimal here. - As the SpaceX IPO lockup period ends, I am expecting those insiders to cash out and unwind their short space basket hedges. $ASTS down 8% today as people sell the launch news. They are stepping over dollars to pick up pennies. The launch yesterday was a clean success. BlueBirds 8, 9, and 10 went up on a Falcon 9, bringing the constellation to nine operational satellites. These are Block 2 birds with 2,400 square foot arrays, the largest commercial communication arrays ever deployed in low earth orbit, delivering close to 200 Mbps directly to a normal unmodified smartphone. The thing everyone said could not be done is flying right now. So the drop is just classic sell the news. The catalyst hit, traders took profits, and they are forgetting what this company turns into on the other side. This is a cash cow in the making. Look at the model. Every major US carrier is signed. AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile. 3.3 billion addressable subscribers sitting inside global partner networks. AST does not spend a dollar acquiring a single one of them. The carrier brings the customer, AST provides the coverage from space, and they split high margin recurring subscription revenue. No stores. No marketing. No customer acquisition cost. Now think about the numbers that come with that. If even a small fraction of 3.3 billion addressable users convert to a few dollars a month each, you are talking about billions in recurring revenue on infrastructure that is already paid for once the satellites are up. The incremental cost of serving one more subscriber from orbit is almost nothing. That is the kind of margin profile that prints money. A satellite network that becomes a subscription toll on global connectivity. And they are funding it from strength. $3.9 billion in cash. Over $1.2 billion in contracted revenue commitments already locked. Manufacturing up to six satellites a month, racing toward the 45 to 60 birds that flip on continuous commercial service. A near monopoly on direct to device connectivity for the entire planet, every major carrier already signed, trading at a fraction of what that future cash flow is worth. People are selling a successful launch. I am watching a future cash machine go on sale. $ASTS

This is a good thing cause it likely won’t be a sell the news event. A successful launch removes the execution risk, and will make the head wins disappear. I bought a new stock today. I first bought this stock around $25 and sold it about a month later when it had nearly doubled. The only reason I sold was because I wanted to run a very concentrated portfolio. I made that decision around mid-2025, and since then my portfolio has grown significantly as my other highest-conviction positions have worked out very well. Even after selling, I've always continued to follow the company closely. Over time, my conviction has only increased. With the market beginning to appreciate the value of space-based communications infrastructure, and especially in light of how private space companies are being valued (SpaceX), I believe this company remains significantly undervalued. So today, I bought back in at $83. That stock is $ASTS.

Kind of insane if you think about it I guess a lot of the premium for $SPCX is located in the AI potential in the future and the Elon Musk premium I really like SpaceX and think that any investor is going to see nice returns over the years. The SpaceX IPO just slammed the entire space sector and I think it created one of the more interesting setups out there right now. Every space name has been selling off into the listing. $ASTS down hard off its highs. $RKLB pulled back. The smaller names hit even harder. And the reason is simple. Money rotated out of every public space stock to chase SpaceX allocation. The most anticipated IPO in history sucked all the capital and attention out of the sector at once. That rotation is temporary. The thesis behind these companies is not. Nothing fundamentally changed at any of these businesses over the past two weeks. $ASTS still has every major US carrier signed and satellites shipping. $RKLB is still launching at record cadence. The defense space budget is still growing. The demand for launch, connectivity, and space infrastructure did not shrink because SpaceX filed an S-1. And here is what happens next. SpaceX lists, the money that wanted SpaceX gets its SpaceX. Then the entire market starts paying attention to space as an investable sector in a way it never has before. The largest IPO in history puts a $1.75 trillion price tag on the industry leader and suddenly every fund and every retail investor is asking what else is in the sector.
