Every optical interconnect roadmap past 1.6T hits the same wall: electronics can’t switch light fast enough without burning power nobody can afford to spend at hyperscale. Hyperscalers are already running into thermal and power ceilings inside the optical layer, not just the GPU layer. The fix everyone’s chasing is a modulator that converts electrical signal to optical signal with less power loss than silicon photonics currently allows. Lightwave Logic has spent over a decade building exactly that. Its electro-optic polymer platform, branded P2IC, uses proprietary organic polymers instead of silicon to build modulators that move data faster while drawing less power per bit.
