If you invest in waves, you always have a winner. On what looks like a balanced day in the market, $AMPX is up 26% today. Drone stocks are all up today. The Pentagon is actively exploring direct financial backing for domestic drone manufacturers. This proposed funding could involve government loans or even equity stakes in these companies. Amprius makes batteries for drones and it's widely considered the company with the best technology. The best technology is certainly not always the cheapest and financial backing for drone manufacturers will certainly help the business.

Listened to the $AMPX earnings yesterday. Needed to sleep about it. Got mixed feelings to be honest. The Good - Revenues keep growing with more than 150% YoY. It looks to slow down a bit QoQ but we saw the same in Q1 last year. Nothing to be worried about here. - They secured a contract in China. As explained in the call, China is a very competitive area for battery suppliers. The fact that they were able to secure a contract in that region proves their technology. - They raised their 2026 forecast with $5 million. Management is confident in growing their revenues due to a backlog from their customers. - At this moment in time Amprius got the best battery technology in terms of energy densitiy per kg. I'm not a battery expert, but from the technical reports I can read, Amprius is a clear winner. The question marks - The gross profit margin: Having a moat is something subjective. It often depends on the framework you use. I like to use a more objective approach. If you can grow your revenues and gross profit margin, you have a moat. A clear technology advantage in one of the fastest growing markets, should result in both revenue and gross profit margin growth imo. The fact that this is not the case this quarter worries me a bit. The fact that they did not give a clear answer on how to raise the margin again, worries me even more. He gave an explanation about one-off costs and some high overhead costs, but nothing to significant imo. He also told that they probably lost a couple of % points due to the fact that they are not a multi-million dollar revenue company. That if they would have more revenues, that they would be able to streamline costs and win a couple of % points moving to 24%-25%. While I don't disagree, it's a useless answer. They will not be a multi-million dollar revenue company soon, so they will have to find other ways. - Customer concentration: 50% of the revenue comes from 3 main customers. 35% of the revenue goes to the war in Ukraine. I have companies in my portfolio that are for 75% dependant on 1 customer, so I should be able to live with that. It's the fact that they are not able to charge those customers more, that worries me. They start their presentation with an overview of those three customers. That they have a huge backlog and so are expecting more orders from those customers. They also mention a new sales team and customer in China and that they are exploring the market in South-Korea. All great, but the drone market is surging in the US. It might be only a personal feeling but it looks like they feel this market is saturated. Only talking about the existing customers and opportunities abroad. I want to see them aggresively pushing for more drone contracts in the US. Maybe they have production limits in the Colorado facility? With the National Defence Act, US customers can't use Chinese batteries and Amprius has production facalities in Asia. When they talk about new opportunities, they mainly mention new applications: Robotics, Space and eVTOL. I agree, those are major future opportunities but won't give you significant revenue today. When talked about US drone opportunities, they mainly talked about the 3 long-term existing customers. When you have the best in class product for a growing industry, you should be able to find new customers every week, no? You should be able to talk about current opportunities, not only future ones. Conclusion Maybe I'm interpreting things the wrong way, but the earnings call left me a bit confused. The call was also very quiet, so had to concentrate to make sure I understood everything. That frustrated me a bit, so might be a reason why I have this mixed feeling. I decided to hold my shares. Not to sell or buy any new shares. Not financial advise. Just my thoughts and opinion.

$AMPX with a massive revenue beat in Q1, they just missed the EPS estimates. The stock is down 7% in aftermarket but on the first sight there is a lot to like about these earnings. 1. Huge Backlog: $500 Million in Defense Orders This is a big win. While the company's current quarterly revenue is around $28.5 million, having $500 million in new orders from the U.S. military provides massive long-term visibility. 2. Market Expansion: China’s Light Electric Vehicle (LEV) Market Amprius has historically been an aviation/drone battery company. Winning a $21 million order in China for scooters and motorcycles shows they can successfully move into the e-mobility space. 3. The Asset-Light Strategy: Contract Manufacturing Instead of spending billions to build their own massive factories (which is what killed many battery startups), Amprius is partnering with companies like Nanotech Energy. 4. Operational Efficiency: Exiting Colorado The company terminated its lease in Brighton, Colorado, and shifted focus back to its main hub in Fremont and its manufacturing partners. Looking forward to the earnings call. But will listen to it tomorrow morning. I remember the stock was down after the earnings last quarter as well. It pumped 77% after that. I don't see why the stock is down at the moment, we'll see.

$AMPX now doubled since I first started to buy shares. It’s by far the safest play into the drone industry. Drones and eVTOLs live and die by their battery's energy density (measured in Watt-hours per kilogram, or Wh/kg). Traditional graphite lithium-ion batteries are simply too heavy and lack the juice for extended, heavy-payload flights. Amprius uses proprietary silicon nanowire anode technology (through their SiMaxx and SiCore platforms) to achieve energy densities between 400 to 500 Wh/kg. In the drone world, this translates to: • Double the range: Up to a 100% improvement in flight time compared to traditional batteries. • Heavier payloads: Drones can carry more cargo (or passengers, in the case of air taxis) without increasing the battery footprint. • Faster turnaround: High power density combined with rapid charging reduces ground downtime. If Amprius becomes the baseline standard for high-performance aviation, $2.5 billion is a drop in the bucket. I posted $AMPX at $9. It is now $18. The thesis has only gotten stronger. Here is why it is still an amazing play after this run up. Every drone on earth has the same problem. Battery life limits everything. Flight time. Range. Payload. The difference between a drone that survives a mission and one that doesn’t is often measured in minutes of endurance. That problem does not get solved with the same graphite batteries that have been in laptops for 30 years. $AMPX builds silicon anode batteries. Up to 500 Wh/kg energy density. Twice the energy density of conventional lithium-ion. More flight time. More range. Less weight. And they hold 80+ patents on the process that makes it possible. The drone economy is not coming. It is here. The US military is buying autonomous underwater drones, tactical strike drones, surveillance drones, and swarm drones at a scale that would have seemed impossible five years ago. The Iran war just showed every defense planner on earth that the next battlefield runs on autonomous systems. Every one of those systems needs a better battery. The DoD is also actively cutting Chinese battery suppliers out of its supply chain. NDAA compliance is now a hard requirement for US defense contracts. $AMPX is US-based, ahead of schedule on NDAA compliance, and the only high-density silicon anode supplier that can actually deliver at scale right now. This interpretation is incomplete and inaccurate. Amprius is not competing in the commoditized, high-volume electric vehicle battery space. Instead, $AMPX is evolving into a monopolistic, high-margin supplier of batteries for aerospace, drone, and defense applications via a capital-light contract manufacturing business model. My $AMPX thesis: 1. Capital-Light Economics This is the most important concept in understanding the Amprius business and its fundamental shift in financial trajectory. Summary $AMPX is a fundamentally strong, validated pure-play equity in the extreme mobility space. It is a high-margin monopolistic supplier in the aerospace industry and is currently trading at a fraction of its long-term earning potential. When Wall Street finally realizes this is a high-margin, monopolistic aerospace enabler and not just another struggling EV battery startup, the multiple expansion will be violent.

The Capital-Light Masterstroke: S&J mentions the current business is working, but it's important to add how efficiently it's working. By terminating the $110M Colorado mega-factory lease and shifting to contract manufacturing, Amprius entirely de-risked their balance sheet. They also officially terminated their ATM (At-The-Market) equity offering. Dilution risk is off the table, and cash is preserved for scaling. Elite Operating Leverage: Because they aren't bogged down building their own factories, management noted they are tracking to generate over $1 million in revenue per employee as they cross the $100M run rate. That is SaaS-level operational efficiency inside a hardware company, and it proves the scalability of their model. The Recurring Revenue: Building on S&J's point about robotics and drones: these industries burn through batteries. Management highlighted that the replacement cycle for these applications will eventually be larger than the initial battery sale. This creates a high-margin, compounding recurring revenue stream that traditional EV car battery makers don't get. Massive Un-Modeled Defense Upside: S&J is right that the military is guiding them on NDAA compliance, but the near-term financial impact is still largely un-priced. $AMPX is the most underrated growth story in the battery market right now. $AMPX just dropped Q4 earnings and the numbers are speaking for themselves. 550 customers. Up from 440 in January. 110 added in Q4 alone. 2025 actuals: $73M revenue. Adj. EBITDA turned positive in Q3. 2026 guidance: $125M+ revenue. 70% YoY growth. 25% gross margins. 2030 target: $600M+ capacity. 30%+ gross margins. 20%+ Adj. EBITDA. This is silicon anode battery tech purpose-built for UAVs and light EVs. The market hasn’t figured this out yet. One of my main holdings posted Q4 earnings today. $AMPX delivered a strong double beat, nudging shares up 2%. I've been looking into $AMPX lately, and I think this company could do really well again in 2026. Lithium-ion batteries rely on graphite anodes, which have effectively reached their theoretical limit for energy storage. This creates a massive hurdle for industries that require lighter, longer-lasting, and faster-charging power sources. The $AMPX solution is a 100% silicon nanowire anode. While silicon can theoretically store up to 10 times more lithium than graphite, it typically swells and cracks during charging. Amprius solves this with a proprietary nanowire structure grown directly onto the substrate. These nanowires have specific spacing that allows the silicon to expand freely without damaging the anode structure. This technology is particularly valuable for customers in sectors where performance and weight are critical, such as aerospace (drones, high-altitude pseudo-satellites), defense, and eventually, the electric vehicle market. The performance leap over graphite cells is striking, particularly when you look at the raw density numbers. $AMPX cells achieve approximately double the energy density of conventional competitors, hitting peaks of 500 Wh/kg and 1,300 Wh/L compared to the standard ~285 Wh/kg and ~715 Wh/L found in graphite cells. In practical terms, this means for a fixed energy capacity, their batteries are effectively half the weight of current market leaders. Beyond just holding more power, the unique nanowire architecture clears a direct path for electron flow, enabling extreme fast charging. While typical cells often require 30 minutes or more to recharge, Amprius technology supports charging speeds of under 6 minutes. This performance is maintained across a much wider operating window than we are used to, functioning effectively from -30°C to 60°C, making them suitable for extreme environments where standard batteries would fail. Furthermore, despite using pure silicon, the technology offers a robust cycle life ranging from 200 to 1,200 cycles depending on the specific cell design. By overcoming the fundamental limitations of graphite, Amprius is positioned to be a key player in the next generation of high-performance energy storage.

$AMPX is my favorite next gen battery play with $SLDP a close second i'm only long $AMPX at the moment seeing as their market caps are about the same but $AMPX is significantly de-risked having reached commercial production, with capacity for $1B in revenue, and ~100 customers
