$ADEA signed another deal today, and the structure of it shows exactly why this licensing machine keeps compounding. Adeia entered a multi year license through RPX that covers 10 of its member companies in a single transaction, a consortium of major global apparel and beauty brands, online marketplaces, delivery and transportation networks, and enterprise tech platforms. All of them now licensed to Adeia's media IP portfolio at once. The mechanism is the clever part. RPX runs what it calls a syndicated transaction, aggregating a group of companies into one deal. So instead of Adeia chasing ten separate licenses through ten separate negotiations or lawsuits, it converts the whole group into paying customers in a single stroke. Efficient for them, and a fast way for Adeia to monetize its portfolio across an entire industry. What they are licensing is the foundation of modern AI-powered e-commerce, intelligent search, recommendations, personalization, virtual shopping, and social commerce. As online shopping gets more personalized and more AI-driven, more of the digital commerce world runs straight through Adeia's patents, and Adeia gets paid for it. This is the whole reason I like the business. Adeia does not build products. It owns the IP and licenses it at roughly 60% EBITDA margins, then signs deal after deal, AMD and Microsoft, Disney, L'Oreal, and now a 10-company e-commerce consortium. Each one stacks recurring revenue on the last, and the portfolio is now over 13,750 patent assets and growing. And remember, this is just the media side. The bigger long-term catalyst is still the semiconductor business, where Adeia owns the foundational hybrid bonding IP the entire memory and AI chip industry is being forced to adopt. The media deals fund and de-risk the company while that semiconductor story builds. A high margin IP machine that keeps signing the biggest names in tech across both sides of its business. There is a version of $ADEA where they get paid on every memory chip made on earth. Almost nobody is pricing it in. Adeia owns the foundational patents on hybrid bonding, the chip stacking tech that HBM memory increasingly depends on. They already have the memory industry licensed, Micron, SK Hynix, Kioxia, SanDisk, over 90% of the DRAM market. The catch is those are mostly flat fee deals. Adeia gets the same check whether Micron makes a million chips or a billion. They are licensed into the biggest memory boom in history but not paid on the volume of it. That is what could change. The Micron and SK Hynix licenses are expected to renew around 2027, right as the HBM4 ramp begins. HBM4 leans on hybrid bonding even harder, so Adeia's IP gets more critical exactly when those contracts hit the table. If they convert even part of those flat fees into per chip royalties, a tiny fee on every chip produced, the math explodes. A sliver per chip across billions of chips a year, on a licensing model with almost no cost to serve, drops straight to the bottom line. One conversion could move the whole company. If it hits, the stock re rates. If it does not, you still own the toll booth on hybrid bonding.

A $39 million purchase a decade ago might turn out to be one of the smartest acquisitions in semiconductor history. Almost nobody is talking about it. $ADEA owns the foundational patents on hybrid bonding and the entire AI chip industry is being forced to adopt it. Here is what is happening. For decades chips got faster by shrinking transistors. That era is ending. Physics caught up. The way forward now is stacking silicon instead of shrinking it, and the technology that makes that work is hybrid bonding. Thousands of microscopic connections joining chips face to face. Smaller, faster, far more power efficient. For AI processors choking on heat and power limits, it is becoming the only path forward. $ADEA holds over 1,100 patents on it. They bought the core IP for $39 million back in 2015 when nobody cared. Now everybody needs it. AMD is already shipping hybrid bonded chips and just signed as a licensee. That is how you run a business at 60% EBITDA margins throwing off cash every quarter. But the real story is what they own going into the AI buildout. Hybrid bonding. The chip stacking technology that advanced AI processors increasingly require. $ADEA picked up the foundational patents for $39 million a decade ago and now controls over 1,100 patents around it. AMD just signed as their first major logic license and the CEO called it a seminal deal. And here is the kicker. Pure IP licensing peers like Rambus and InterDigital trade at multiples 6 to 7 times richer than $ADEA for the exact same royalty model. The only thing holding $ADEA back is the market still seeing a legacy media company. As the semiconductor mix grows that perception breaks and the multiple snaps higher. A 60% margin cash machine sitting on the foundational IP of the entire AI chip and memory buildout, with the AI option priced at basically zero.
