Sold my $NOK position in my short-term account today. Rotated into $SKM. Here is why: SK Telecom is not a telecom company anymore. The market still prices it like one. That is the gap. The capex is being reallocated away from tower maintenance and toward GPU clusters, data centers, and B2B AI deployment across Korean factories and robotics operations. This is not a press release pivot. The infrastructure is being built. $100M into Anthropic in 2023. Then a FOLLOW-ON investment just announced. Rather than cashing out ahead of the IPO, SKT deepened the relationship. The stake is estimated at roughly $970M at book value. Some analysts see it hitting the high $2.6B range after listing. Anthropic is currently valued at $380B. With an IPO estimated as early as October 2026, that stake will not be priced at carrying cost for much longer. Then there is NVIDIA. Jensen Huang said it directly: “Telecom networks are becoming national AI infrastructure. They connect people, companies, devices and machines and now they can become the backbone of new AI clouds. With Nvidia DSX, SK Telecom can build Korea’s AI cloud at scale and bring agents, enterprise and physical AI to the companies and industries that power Korea and the world.” SKT has committed to deploying NVIDIA’s DSX platform, with the first AI factory coming online in Korea in 2027. The partnership also includes SKT joining NVIDIA Cloud Partner, plus joint research into next-generation AI factory architectures. The $200M $PENG stake layers in AI infrastructure exposure at the hardware level. Anthropic covers the model layer. NVIDIA locks in the compute. SKT runs the sovereign cloud on top of it. That is not a telecom thesis. That is a VERTICALLY integrated AI stack sitting inside a company the market still prices as a legacy carrier. Wall Street expects EPS growth of 283% in 2026. The stock is up 40.6% YTD. The Anthropic stake alone is worth roughly $2B against a $11.5B market cap. $NOK is a good company. I still like the longer-term 5G infrastructure story. But the near-term catalyst density does not compare. $SKM has the Anthropic IPO on the horizon, a live NVIDIA partnership deploying now, and a market that has not fully repriced this from telecom to AI infrastructure operator yet. $SKM has 4x more Anthropic exposure per dollar of market cap than second place $ZM. Yesterday, SKT’s CEO Jung Jae-heon confirmed the company participated in Anthropic's Series H and has no plans to sell ahead of the IPO. Strip that Anthropic stake and $SKM's core telco trades at approximately 6.1x EV/EBITDA, the cheapest name in the global peer group. If Jensen's bet on telecom as critical AI infra pans out, $SKM's goldmine goes far beyond its early bet on Dario and co.

$SKM paid $100 million for an Anthropic stake in August 2023. That position is now worth an estimated $2.7 billion, roughly 19% of SKT's entire market cap. On June 10, $SKM's CEO Jung Jae-heon confirmed the company participated in the Series H and has no plans to sell. His framing was explicit: this is not about how much they make at IPO, it is about maintaining the partnership. He confirmed Anthropic is actively discussing compute infrastructure with SKT and treats them as a preferred partner specifically because they are a shareholder. $SKM also just joined Project Glasswing. Glasswing is Anthropic's most restricted model tier, invite-only, giving a handful of trusted organizations access to Claude Mythos Preview, the most capable model Anthropic has built and the one not available to the public. A Korean telco with 45% domestic mobile market share getting that access tells you exactly how deep this partnership runs. $PENG - for anyone that wants to gamble... I feel like all the fresh minted "bottleneck" millionaires will bid this up until IV > 300% (or shelf registration, or $SKM dumps their ~6m shares). Insane lowish-IV OTM call flow, gamma/vanna could be huge. Today saw a sudden surge of OTM call buying.. looks to me like ~8k ($670k) of May's, ~3k ($700k) of June's, ~1k ($450k) of July's. My guess is that means it'll get pumped momentarily by whomever bought them. Delta on that is probably around 400k shares for a ticker that sees 1.2m in daily volume... if IV expands so too would delta (eg, bigger gamma squeeze). IV still sitting below 100%. If @aleabitoreddit so much as sneezes the ticker, this thing will go nuclear. Lucky that I got in early before the sweeps, and 4x'd some lottos within hours. Not financial advice.. this is a casino.
