Everyone's looking for the top. Here's what the data actually says. S&P 500 Q2 2026 estimated earnings growth: +21.7% YoY. If that holds, it's back-to-back quarters above 20%. That hasn't happened by accident. Since March 31, the Q2 growth estimate has been revised UP from 18.7% to 21.7%. Five sectors drove that move with upward EPS revisions. The Street isn't cutting numbers. They're raising them. Guidance split: 61 companies issued positive EPS guidance vs. 47 negative. That's a 1.3x positive ratio heading into the quarter. Valuation: Forward P/E sits at 21.1x. Above the 5-year avg (19.9x) and 10-year avg (19.0x). Elevated, yes. But elevated multiples compress on earnings deceleration, not acceleration. Growth is still accelerating. Absent an exogenous shock (the kind you only identify in hindsight), the fundamental engine underneath this market is firing on all cylinders. Earnings revisions are positive. Guidance is skewing bullish. Growth is re-accelerating. The data doesn't care about your feelings. It cares about the numbers. Earnings growth is the engine. Revisions are the fuel. Guidance is the trajectory. Q2 is the proving ground. We welcome debate backed by data. Show us what stops this freight train. Core PCE reports at 8:30 AM tomorrow. This is the Fed's preferred inflation gauge. We studied 130 releases over 12 years. The signal is the opposite of what you think. Hot Core PCE, above forecast is the buy signal. Not cold. Not inline. 20-day forward returns after hot Core PCE: $SPY: +1.85%, 64% win rate (p = 0.024) $QQQ: +2.43%, 70% win rate (p = 0.014) $IWM: +1.96%, 76% win rate (p = 0.048) Bootstrap confidence intervals exclude zero for all three tickers. Cold Core PCE produces nothing. Strictly cold 20d forward: SPY +0.03%, QQQ +0.57%, IWM -0.82%. None significant. The "good news" inflation print has no edge. Why does hot PCE work? Core PCE only surprises above forecast 25% of the time. Analysts are highly calibrated to the Fed's gauge. When it does come in hot, it's a rare, high-information event. The market gets clarity on the Fed's trajectory. Clarity drives returns. Same mechanism we found in our inflation matrix: the market rewards certainty, not direction. The direction match on PCE day is the strongest in our series. SPY gap predicts close 73.8% of the time. On hot PCE days specifically: 84.8%. That's the highest reading across CPI, PPI, and PCE. The intraday paths show no significant divergence between hot and not-hot. No edge in the day trade. The edge is entirely in the 20-day forward window. This is a positioning signal, not a day-trading signal. Out-of-sample: hot PCE 20d forward went from +0.85% pre-2018 to +2.23% in 2018-2026. The signal is intensifying in recent data, not decaying. The honest caveat: 33 hot prints in 12 years. Small sample. But three independent ETFs all confirm it, bootstrap CIs exclude zero across all three, and the signal strengthened out-of-sample. The direction is clear. PCE day itself is statistically indistinguishable from any other day. SPY p = 0.82. QQQ p = 0.75. IWM p = 0.88. All that positioning is for a day that behaves like a random Thursday. The edge is in what happens after. Three things the data says about tomorrow: Before , don't position ahead of the print. The edge is in the reaction, not the prediction. The gap direction predicts the close 74% of the time. On hot prints, 85%. It's not a guarantee. It's a base rate. 1 in 4 times it doesn't hold. If Core PCE prints above 3.3%, the 20-day buy signal fires. Strongest in $QQQ. If at or below forecast, no signal. Baseline returns. $SPY $QQQ $IWM #PCE #inflation

CPI came in hot yesterday. PPI came in hot this morning. Both Hot. From our inflation matrix (published last night): it's not about hot or cold. It's about whether CPI and PPI agree. They just agreed. When CPI and PPI send the same signal, 20-day forward returns: $SPY: +1.62%, 72% win rate (p = 0.003) $QQQ: +2.63%, 79% win rate (p = 0.005) $IWM: +1.67%, 60% win rate (p = 0.038) Both Hot specifically: $SPY: +1.44%, 69% win $QQQ: +2.67%, 81% win (p = 0.006) FinTwit sees two hot inflation prints and panics. Our data says the market can handle inflation in either direction. What it can't handle is conflicting signals. Both Hot and Both Cold produce nearly identical forward returns (p = 0.81). What a day in the markets. From a morning dip to a sharp recovery after the statement that Canada is not looking for free trade deals with China, sentiment flipped quickly. The market respected the SR zone mentioned in the morning, rallied right from it, and closed within that same zone—textbook price action. $SPY looks like it’s coiling up and getting ready to test the $700 psychological level. Precious metals pushed to new all-time highs before seeing some profit-taking. $IWM showed strength early, rallied in the morning session, but couldn’t hold gains and closed red. Meanwhile, many growth stocks remain under pressure, suggesting rotation and selective risk-taking rather than broad-based buying. The January Effect refers to the historical tendency for small-cap stocks to outperform large-caps during the month of January overall, often attributed to tax-loss harvesting in December followed by reinvestment in January. This event could accelerate as early as next week, given that many small caps are very cheap.
