Not every stock will work immediately, and some may take years to fully play out, but that’s how asymmetric investing works. Early bets require patience, conviction and risk management. Big money is usually made by identifying future themes before they become crowded trades. For me, this is about building positions slowly, surviving volatility and giving disruptive sectors time to mature. Patience pays in the long term IMO.

The Green Hydrogen Wave has been stable this quarter. Cummins announced that they would stop their Hydrogen division, due to loss-making. It did not bring a further shock to the broader market cap of the sector. The revenues of the sector grew by 2% QoQ and 7% YoY. The market cap of the sector grew by 3% QoQ and 87% YoY. $TKA is still leading this industry by revenues and market cap. $PLUG is the second largest company by market cap and the rest are some smaller players. We still see that all those players struggle with positive margins. The cost of making electrolyzers is high and they often struggle to make them operational. The high energy costs won't help the green hydrogen customers either. To be honest, I expect a little drop in revenues over the next quarters. It's a wave I'm staying away from.

The new energy wave had a difficult Q1 2026. Nuclear $OKLO: -38% $SMR: -37% Energy grid $EOSE: -61% $FLNC: -42% Solar: $TE: -46% $FSLR: -29% Hydrogen: $TKA: -20% $PLUG: +8% I own $FLNC who reported disappointing results but really got hammered when $EOSE reported earnings. The trust in management in this sector is completely gone. I don’t expect a turnaround until next earnings. But think the energy grid remains critical and $FLNC is ideally positioned. I hold my position which is currently down 27% for me. It is my smallest position and only 3% of my portfolio.

$PLUG stock jumped 10% as earnings show the company turning a corner. Crucially, they achieved a positive Q4 gross margin, proving their core material handling business is finally sustainably profitable. While taking a massive non-cash charge to clean up the balance sheet, their cash burn dropped significantly. They also secured over $275M via asset sales, funding operations through 2026 and easing dilution fears. Finally, Plug appointed sales veteran Jose Luis Crespo as the new CEO to lead the charge. Wall Street is clearly cheering this pivot from cash-draining expansion to financial discipline.
