Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Surfaced ("we", "us") collects when you use Surfaced and Surfaced Brief, how we use it, and your choices. We collect only what we need to run the product, and we never sell your data.

What we collect

  • Account info — your email and name, from email sign-in or from Google / X when you choose those sign-in options.
  • What you give us — the holdings, watchlists, position sizes, and investment theses you add.
  • Portfolio screenshots — if you upload one, we send the image to an AI service to read the tickers and amounts, then discard the image. We keep only the extracted symbols/figures, not the picture.
  • Usage data — basic logs and email open/click events to operate and improve the Service.

How we use it

To create your account, build and maintain your personalized weekly brief, generate grounded analysis for your holdings, send transactional and weekly emails, and keep the Service secure and working.

Service providers we share with

We use trusted processors strictly to run the Service: Supabase (auth + database), Postmark (email delivery), and AI/data providers including Anthropic, Exa, and market-data APIs (e.g., Alpha Vantage, Finnhub, FRED) to generate analysis. Sign-in is handled via Google and X when you choose them. These providers process data on our behalf; we do not sell or rent your data to anyone.

Connecting X bookmarks (optional, future)

If we offer it and you opt in, we will read only a specific bookmark folder you choose to share, to extract tickers and companies for your watchlist. This is fully consent-based, used only for your own experience, and you can disconnect at any time to stop access.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies that are necessary for authentication (keeping you signed in). We don't use third-party advertising cookies.

Retention & deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time by emailing us; we'll remove it except where we must retain records to comply with law.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our infrastructure providers, and access is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
